GREENERY IN SINGLE-FAMILY DEVELOPMENT – LISZKI
The project site is located in the village of Liszki located, in the immediate vicinity of Krakow. Due to the size of the investment [30ha], our main goal was to introduce visual identification, i.e. local color accents to facilitate orientation in the area. This applies to both the individual stages of the investment and the designed mini parks.
The mini parks are designed as of green enclaves connected by rows of trees. A distinctive feature of each park is the individual color scheme visible in small architecture and plantings. There are five parks designed: white, orange, red, purple and blue. They include a dog run, a food truck zone, a wooden terrace for exercise, a green maze and other elements of small architecture. each park has a place for relaxation and rest. The designed greenery has a is friendly to animals (moneymaking plants and providing food in different seasons), harmonises with the existing vegetation, to the history of the place and to the particular park in terms of color. So is the small architecture that identifies a given pocket park, combining modern and minimalist forms. Tall greenery has been introduced to emphasize pedestrian and road routes and view axes. It also serves an isolating function both between the street and single-family housing, as well as neighboring private gardens.
Private gardens next to single-family houses were designed to facilitate orientation and identification so the greenery is visually consistent in terms of color and habit. This applies mainly to the entrance zones, where all year-round decorative plants have been used (ornamental grasses, perennials, bulbs) and those referring to the location and history of the place (cultivated fields, meadows, village). In addition, running paths, which also serve as walking routes, are planned to be laid out throughout the complex. Each of them consists of a ring road, which maximizes distance, and routes running through pocket parks, where outdoor gym equipment is located.
One of the most important objectives of the investment was to create so-called “small-scale water retention. It is aimed at managing water in small reservoirs, while preserving the natural landscape. Elements of small retention are ditches and absorption gullies, which, in addition to their retention function, co-create attractive spaces integrated into the surroundings.
