GREEN WALL IN OFFICE SPACE – URBA HEADQUARTERS, Cracow
The green wall, actually an indoor vertical garden, was created in Krakow’s Zabłocie district at URBA’s headquarters.
The main idea was to introduce as many plants as possible on both sides of the structure and use glazing to let light into the building.
During the design process, every centimeter counted because the wall stands in the main traffic hub of the office. The vertical garden separates the inner part of the office from the public space. The garden is divided into 8 alternating sections in a rhythm of greenery – glazing. The entire structure is 9m long and as much as 3m high. A total of 480 plants grow on both sides, and the reservoirs supplying the automatic irrigation system hold nearly 1,500 liters of water.
The purpose of the garden is to separate the inner life of the company from the open space. In the inner part, it creates a cozy interior for dining together with work friends, while in the open part it provides a comfortable and quiet atmosphere for clients.
The realization of the green wall initiated the filling of the entire office with exotic plants. More and more of them are appearing every month. The largest is a 3.5-meter-tall Strelitzia Augusta growing in the lobby.
